About Epworth United Methodist Church
We are a vibrant congregation nestled atop Chapman mountain at the very edge of Northeast Huntsville. Epworth is welcoming and friendly congregation with a rich history of serving God and our community. We have a passion for creating and discipling the next generation of Christians, especially youth and children.
Epworth is conveniently located to Northeast Huntsville, Chapman area, the Highway 72 corridor, Downtown Huntsville, 5 Points, Mt. Carmel, Gurley, Riverton, Chase Valley, Moore’s Mill Road, High Mountain, Ryland Pike, Monte Sano, Dug Hill Road, Lincoln Mills, Mastin Lake Rd, and Meridian St.
We hope you’ll consider joining us for worship on Sunday morning at 10:15. At Epworth, you’ll find a traditional style worship, organ music that evokes a sense of reverence and beauty, an excellent choir, an engaging and lively children’s sermon, friendly people, and a relevant and creative sermon. Midway through worship, after the children’s sermon, kids ages 4 through 5th grade are invited to join us for Children’s Church, where children experience age appropriate activities to develop their faith. Feel free to come dressed as you are or dress up a bit – you’ll find our folks do both.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do United Methodists believe?
As a part of the worldwide United Methodist Church family, we follow a set of Bible-based, God inspired beliefs set forth by our denomination. To learn more about our beliefs, CLICK HERE.
Where should I park? Is there handicapped parking available?
As you enter from the east, there are several parking spots labeled for visitors on your right. Our parking lot has three levels. The level at the top of the hill is the most convenient for Sunday worship, as you can go directly to our main entrance. Toward the bottom of the hill, there is another covered entrance for the bottom level, which includes our gym / fellowship hall. We have an elevator so that all areas of our facility are handicapped accessible.
What should I expect?
When you worship with us at Epworth UMC, you will experience a friendly and relaxed form of historic Christian worship in a beautiful sanctuary. From our acolytes to our organ to our chancel choir to our hymns, we celebrate our connection to the past. On the first Sunday of each month, we connect with our past in celebrating Holy Communion.
What should I wear?
Dress is typically semi-formal, but wear what makes you most comfortable and know that you are welcome no matter what.
Is there Sunday School?
Our Sunday School gathers around 9 am each Sunday. We have two very active adult classes, as well as a casual gathering in the church foyer outside the sanctuary. We also have classes for youth and children.
Is there Children's Church or a Nursery?
We love having kids in worship, and have a station in the entrance with activities and toys to help entertain your little ones. We have a nursery available each Sunday throughout the service. There is a time in the service when we invite all children to come down for a children’s moment and a message tailored to them. Afterwards, the children are invited to Children’s Church, which will include another lesson tailored to their level of comprehension. They return to the back of the sanctuary at the end of worship so that they can meet their families.
Is the church available for events (i.e., weddings, funerals, etc.)?
How do I join the church?
We invite you to be a part of our church family, and as soon as you come we’ll start treating you that way. To officially join, talk to one of the pastors about what that public commitment means.
